A Look at Adobe Creative Cloud 2017 Improvements
Last week Adobe released the latest round of upgrades to the Creative Cloud suite (dubbed “CC 2017”). Adobe’s focus for this release is aimed squarely at refining user experience and making workflows more efficient. Some applications include new integrations with Adobe’s cloud-enabled services — like TypeKit and Creative Cloud Libraries — as well as refinements to the user interface. Several apps also include performance improvements for commonly used features.

This article provides a brief overview of the improvements made to some of Adobe’s most popular applications and most important workflows. Going forward, our new Creative Cloud tutorial series will also showcase a few of the new CC 2017 applications. NOTE: this information is provided as a courtesy. Photoshop CC 2017
Adobe has put together a somewhat eclectic set of updates for Photoshop CC 2017. Even so, putting usability and performance enhancements on an equal footing with new features at this stage of Photoshop’s development is a good idea. Over time we could see a smarter Photoshop — where specific selection or healing tools are better at recognizing patterns within the image, and producing a better result on the first attempt. We could also benefit from an app that takes less time to process and save the many styles and effects we can already apply.
Comprehensive Search: Think of the new Search feature as Spotlight for Photoshop, Adobe CC 2017 Applications. Search results pull from Photoshop’s official help files, as well as actual Photoshop menus, tools, and panels, so you can use it to access many different items. How useful it is will depend on how heavily you use keyboard shortcuts — which is always the fastest way to access a tool, command, or brush modifier. The newer you are to Photoshop, the more likely this Search feature will benefit you.
Select & Mask Enhancements: The Select & Mask workspace is a relatively recent addition to Photoshop; it replaces the modalities and windows associated with the former “Refine Edge” and “Refine Mask” commands, which are now accessed via the “Select and Mask…” command. Now when you enter this workspace, in addition to the existing brush tools and the standard Lasso tool, the Polygonal Lasso has been added to the mix. There is also a new option to show a high quality image preview each time a mouse-down event occurs — for example when using the Refine Edge Brush Tool. Combined with the other recent improvements Adobe has made to this workflow, these changes make for a more powerful selection workflow.
ACR 9.7 and more: Adobe Camera Raw (or ACR) is arguably the most powerful feature in Photoshop, enabling photographers and artists to make precise optimizations to the raw file data captured by their DSLRs or other cameras, which in turns allows the “purest” result to be rendered into Photoshop, from where additional styling and effects can be made and Adobe CC 2017 Applications. Version 9.7 offers one big improvement, which is support for pressure-sensitive devices, like the ubiquitous Wacom series of tablets, and the new Microsoft Surface Pro tablet PC. This means more precise local adjustments can be made before processing the image — a potentially big deal for a lot of users.
Adobe has also made improvements to the main Properties panel, to type support, the Liquify filter, the Oil Paint filter (which is pretty cool and now GPU-accelerated), the Surface Blur filter (10x faster than prior versions), and many bug fixes and other small enhancements. There’s also an improved new file dialog window, which provides a thumbnail-based preview of all the document types you can open — however I’m not sure how well this feature will go over with long-time users.
Illustrator CC 2017
Illustrator has been given some nice improvements as well; let’s take a look.
New UI: The biggest change made to Illustrator is that it now (for the most part) shares the same modern user interface as Photoshop and InDesign. All the UI elements have been “flattened” in typical Adobe style, and there are variations on how light or dark you can make the UI, depending on what you prefer.
Live Font Previewing: Another useful improvement is that Illustrator now has the same live font previewing technology found in Photoshop, making it easier to evaluate the look of a font after the text block has been placed on an artboard.
Pixel Grid Alignment and more: Illustrator CC 2017 also provides enhanced options for snapping your artwork to the pixel grid, even while using different stroke widths and alignment options. Another useful addition is that Illustrator now “zooms to a selection,” so that as you use the keyboard shortcuts to rapidly zoom in, the item you’ve selected remains centered in the viewport. There are also quite a few improvements to text and glyph handling.
InDesign CC 2017
While mostly a collection of small improvements, InDesign CC 2017 has a few welcome additions, like the option to change the size of panel tabs to suit different display sizes, a more responsive link panel that populates quickly when displaying a large number of URLs, and improved support for Ligatures and Ordinals. There are also some new options for controlling the scale of arrowheads, though in my opinion more work needs to be done to provide precise control over the shape and size of arrowheads, Adobe CC 2017 Applications. Hopefully this will show up in a near-term update for Creative Cloud.
After Effects CC 2017
This is a solid update from the AE development team; they have continued to pursue substantial improvements to application performance, and to enhancing efficiencies throughout the workflow. While they haven’t quite reached their destintation as far as performance improvements, each successive release Adobe CC 2017 Applications 2014 has brought us closer to what will amount to a brand new After Effects (especially under the hood).
3D Composition Renderer: Using technology provided by MAXON (the company responsible for integration the “Cineware” plugin), Adobe CC 2017 Applications, ID Photos Pro Free Activate Effects now allows you to create and animate 3D text and other graphical elements with built-in extrusion tools.
Performance Improvements: It is now possible to preview most types of video footage in real-time, without having to cache it first (although the basic caching setup for the application still exists and applies in many scenarios). There are also new GPU-accelerated effects including frequently needed items like Brightness and Contrast, Hue/Saturation, Glow, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, Tint, and others.
Integration and Collaboration
Adobe has also integrated the TypeKit system used in other Adobe applications. So if your comps have a TypeKit font included and the artist you’re collaborating with has TypeKit but not that particular font installed, the font should automatically load onto their system so that they can preview the scene properly. Adobe has also built in a new Team Projects workflow that allows people working in After Effects and Premiere Pro, to more easily and simultaneously share and enhance the various assets used in a project.
These are just four of the apps available as part of the Creative Cloud 2017 upgrade cycle, but Adobe has provided updates to a host of other apps and even introduced some brand new application concepts, which I encourage you to check out when you have time. All in all, while there are no huge, “headliner” features for most of the apps, there are some genuinely worthwhile additions across the board, as Adobe makes a concerted effort to bridge the gaps between apps and make existing features work better.

Adobe Creative Cloud
Software as a service offering from Adobe Inc.
Adobe Creative Cloud is a set of applications and services from Adobe Inc. that gives subscribers access to a collection of software used for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, along with a set of mobile applications and also some optional cloud services. In Creative Cloud, a monthly or annual subscription service is delivered over the Internet.[3][4] Software from Creative Cloud is downloaded from the Internet, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, installed directly on a local computer and used as long as the subscription remains valid. Online updates and multiple languages are included in the CC subscription. Creative Cloud was initially hosted on Amazon Web Services, but a new agreement with Microsoft has the software, beginning with the 2017 version, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, hosted on Microsoft Azure.[5]
Previously, Adobe offered individual products as well as software suites containing several products (such as Adobe Creative Suite or Adobe eLearning Suite) with a perpetual software license.[6]
Adobe first announced the Creative Cloud in October 2011. Another version of Adobe Creative Suite was released the following year.[7] On May 6, 2013, Adobe announced that they would not release new versions of the Creative Suite and that future versions of its software would be available only through the Creative Cloud.[8][9][10] The first new versions made only for the Creative Cloud were released on June 17, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, 2013.
Current applications and services[edit]
The Adobe Creative Cloud retains many of the features of Adobe Adobe CC 2017 Applications Suite and introduces new features;[11] foremost is the instant availability of upgrades, Adobe CC 2017 Applications to the cloud, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, and easier sharing. In June 2014, the company announced 14 new versions of the Creative Cloud essential desktop tools, Adobe CC 2017 Applications new mobile apps, and the availability of creative hardware for enterprise, education and photography customers.[12][13][14]
The video disc authoring program Adobe Encore and the web-focused bitmap editor Adobe Fireworks were both discontinued by Adobe in 2013, but were still available as downloads via Creative Cloud until May 2019.
Packages[edit]
Adobe offers four tiers of the Creative Cloud subscription service for individuals (there are other types for Business and Schools):[15]
- Photography, which contains some photography-related features of Adobe Creative Cloud and access to Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC.[16]
- Single App, which contains all the features of Creative Cloud plus access to a single application of the user's choice in the suite out of a list of 11 selected applications.
- All Apps, the main tier of Creative Cloud that contains all the features of Creative Cloud plus access to all applications within the suite.
- All Apps + Adobe Stock, which contains all the standard features of Creative Cloud plus features for Adobe Stock.

Hidden helper tools[edit]
- Adobe IPC Broker is an app bundled with Creative Cloud running in the background. This hidden program runs a process that integrates multiple Creative Cloud apps such as Photoshop or Illustrator.[18]
Discontinued products[edit]
- Dimension, formerly Project Felix, was a 3D rendering and design tool. It was replaced by Adobe Substance 3D Stager, which is not included in the All Apps plan and must be purchased separately.
- Flash Builder, formerly Flex Builder, was an integrated development environment (IDE) built on the Eclipse platform meant for developing rich Internet applications (RIAs) and cross-platform desktop applications for the Adobe Flash platform.
- Flash Professional (now Adobe Animate) is Flash's content authoring application.
- Fuse, formerly Fuse Character Creator, is a 3D character animation application originally developed by Mixamo. It was acquired by Adobe Systems in June 2015 and was discontinued while in beta testing.
- Ideas CC is a mobile digital sketchpad app that lets you design almost anywhere using vectors, layers, and color themes.
- Kuler CC, later called Adobe Color CC, was a color theming app for mobile devices. It was developed and marketed by Adobe Inc. through Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Muse is a discontinued offline website builder used to create fixed, fluid, or adaptive websites, without the need to write code.
- Premiere Clip is a timeline based video editing software on mobile platform.
- Preview CC is an app for previewing mobile designs.
- Scout is a profiling tool for Flash SWF files.
- SpeedGrade is a tool for performing color corrections and developing looks for Premiere projects. SpeedGrade was discontinued on August 22, 2017, but can still be used by subscribers at the time.[19] Features from SpeedGrade are now found in the Lumetri Color Correction feature in Premiere Pro.
- Story was a screenwriting and film/TV pre-production online application which integrates with the Premiere Pro family. It allows users to create movie scripts for their movies.
- Voco is an unreleased audio editing and generating prototype software by Adobe that enables novel editing and generation of audio.
Reception[edit]
The change from perpetual licenses to a subscription model was met with significant criticism.[20][21] Although Adobe's cloud-based model caused disagreement and uncertainty,[20] and incited annoyance[22] and conflict,[23] a survey by CNET and Jefferies revealed that despite complaints most of its 1.4 million subscribers[23][24] plan to renew.[25][26]
Criticism[edit]
Shifting to a software as a service model, Adobe announced more frequent feature updates to its products and the eschewing of their traditional release cycles.[27] Customers must pay a monthly subscription fee. Consequently, if subscribers cancel or stop paying, they will lose access to the software as well as the ability to open work Aiseesoft MobieSync Crack in proprietary file formats.[28]
Although investors applauded the move, many customers reacted negatively.[29] This shift has been met with mixed reviews by both corporations and independent designers, with many people expressing their displeasure on the web[30][31][32] and through multiple Internet petitions.[33] Among these was a Change.org petition which reached over 30,000 signatures within a few weeks of the announcement.[34]
Creative Cloud has been criticized for broken file syncing, one of its core features.[35][36] In May 2013 Adobe announced that it was suspending the file-sync desktop preview "for the next couple of eset smart security premium full Reviewers of Creative Cloud were disappointed with the functionality of the cloud storage[37][38][39] and were "far from convinced by Adobe's subscription model".[40] Some users were concerned that they would be forced to upgrade their computer hardware when it is no longer supported by the current version of the Creative Cloud software.[41]
Some of their customers experienced a loss of Adobe CC 2017 Applications in Adobe as a company and an attendant rise in anxiety.[42][43] Despite significant customer criticism over Adobe's move to subscription-only pricing,[44] the company announced that it would not sell perpetual licenses to its software alongside the subscriptions: "We understand this is a big change, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, but we are so focused on the vision we shared for Creative Cloud, and we plan to focus all our new innovation on the Creative Cloud".[45]
In May 2014 the service was interrupted for over a day due to a login outage leaving graphics professionals locked out of Creative Cloud.[46][47][48][49][50] Adobe apologized for Avid Pro Tools 2020.03 Crack global Creative Cloud failure.[51][52] When initially asked whether customers would be compensated, the company's Customer Service responded: "We cannot offer compensation for the outage. I'm so sorry again for the frustration."[53][54] Adobe later announced that it would review compensation on "a case by case basis".[55] The outage was heavily criticized, as was Adobe's software as a service model in general.[56]
Online articles began offering examples of replacements of Adobe products,[57][58][59][60][61] with competing products directly offering alternatives, and launching promotions for dissatisfied Adobe customers.[62] Adobe, however, claimed that Creative Cloud is its "highest customer satisfaction product in the creative space" and that even prior to Adobe's move to a pure subscription model, "more than 80 percent of customers who bought products from Adobe's Web site picked CC over CS."[45]
Although Creative Cloud was expected to curtail the piracy of Photoshop,[63] which is one of the most pirated pieces of software,[64] Creative Cloud was hacked and its applications made available via unauthorized means a day after it officially launched.[65][66] Adobe claimed that the subscription payment plan would make its software more accessible to users who previously pirated it.[67]
On May 14, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, 2019, some Creative Cloud users received emails from Adobe stating that licenses to previous versions of Creative Cloud applications had been terminated and that users could face civil action from third parties if they did not update the software on their personal computers. A representative from Adobe confirmed the letter's authenticity. The situation prompted renewed criticism of Adobe's subscription-only business model.[68]

Adobe’s Creative Cloud 2017 Updates Concentrate on Improving User Experience and Supporting New Media
Adobe concentrated its Creative Cloud 2017 updates heavily in newer media areas as it announced an After Effects improvement to render 3D elements up to 20 times faster, a Premier Pro update that automatically detect and create settings for different types of virtual reality content, and a new project, Project Felix, to aid in the creation of photo-realistic images by combining 2D and 3D assets, Adobe CC 2017 Applications. Meanwhile, cloud-based document collaboration across Creative Cloud, universal search in Photoshop, and other new features improve usability across a number of applications.
Photoshop
Photoshop improvements are a bit light, but mostly center around features that make it easier to use and refinements to the Face-Aware Liquify tool. A new universal search bar will allow users to find “tools, panels, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, menus, Adobe Stock assets, help content, and tutorials,” according to a press release. Meanwhile, Liquify is faster, and Face-Aware Liquify now allows independent adjustments to each eye, a preview checkbox, and ability to toggle widgets on and off in the workspace. There are no updates on Lightroom as of this moment.
Adobe Stock and Typekit
Adobe Stock, which is now integrated across the Creative Cloud suite, is also receiving a massive update as its contributor portal comes out of beta. Thanks to a partnership with Reuters, Adobe Stock now benefits from the availability of the news agency’s extensive library of photos and video footage covering news, sports, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, and entertainment events. Additionally, Adobe Stock users will now have the ability to easily license historical news footage from over a million news clips in Reuters’ archive library for a variety of uses. This Reuters partnership is a huge win for Adobe Stock, as it will allow easy and affordable access to a variety of newsworthy content.
Adobe Stock also has a new visual search feature, which really shines when you build multiple images to create an ideal search. A press demo revealed how one can search for images similar to one of a coffee cup, then click on an image of tea, and then select images with more greenery in the background to quickly narrow down the selection to a variety of strikingly similar images with similar levels of green backgrounds and a steaming tea cup to find just the one that works for your project. This will undoubtedly become a favorite way to search for many designers looking for something quite specific or similar to something they already have, but with a small twist. Visual search of stock within Photoshop (and not just through the Adobe Stock website) is “coming soon.”
Meanwhile, partnerships with font foundries such as Frere-Jones Type, Type Network/Font Bureau, and Émigré will allow for easier management and purchase of individual fonts through the new Adobe Typekit marketplace.
Project Felix
Project Felix is Adobe CC 2017 Applications new design tool that allows users to combine two-dimensional and three-dimensional assets to easily create “product shot comps, scene visualization, and abstract design.” A demo of the program seemed quite promising, as it showed how easy it was to overlay an image of a logo or label over a 3D file of a bottle, add a three-dimensional splash, and place all of these objects in a matching two-dimensional environment to create a photo-realistic mockup that could be used for advertising pitches, client meetings, and more. Project Felix will be available in beta later this year.
Cloud-Based Document Collaboration
Documents in several applications including Adobe XD and Premiere Pro (and other video applications) will feature real-time, co-editing capabilities for Creative Cloud and Creative Cloud Team and Enterprise members depending on the application and timing. Co-editing will be available in beta for Adobe XD beginning next year for all Creative Cloud members while the feature dubbed as Team Projects for Premier Pro, After Effects, and Prelude will be available soon for Team and Enterprise members.

In addition, there are a number of announcements for other Adobe products from Adobe Premier to mobile applications. As these might be of less interest to our photo-oriented readership, they’re mentioned below in a shortened format:
- All mobile applications are now available on Android (recent releases include Photoshop Fix, Photoshop Sketch, and Comp CC)
- Premiere Pro will have an Auto-Aware VR feature Adobe CC 2017 Applications detects the type of virtual-reality content and determines VR settings behind the scenes for your content where appropriate
- Character Animator’s character puppet creation and animation is now faster and integrates better with Photoshop and Illustrator
- Creative Cloud subscribers can now remove all Adobe branding from content created within Adobe Spark (other exclusive features will also be announced later for CC members)

Keep your apps updated automatically
The auto-update feature of the Creative Cloud desktop app helps to update your apps automatically as soon as new versions are released.
Note: If you're installing the Creative Cloud desktop app for the first time, your apps are set to update automatically by default.
Open the Creative Cloud desktop winzip driver updater reddit. (Select the icon in your Windows taskbar or the macOS menu bar.)
Select Apps in the left sidebar.
Do one of the following to set automatic updates:
- All apps: To set automatic updates for all apps, turn on Auto-update.
- Specific apps: To set automatic updates for specific apps, turn on Auto-update, and then set the toggle as needed for each individual app.
Previous versions are uninstalled by default but you can opt to keep them using Advanced options. Learn more about Advanced options.

Using a plug-in? Third-party plug-ins may not always work with the latest version of the Creative Cloud apps. Contact your plug-in vendor for information about compatibility and updates.
Advanced options for individual apps
Once you enable the Auto-update feature, you get the option to retain or remove a specific version of any app.
- Import previous settings and preferences: Retains the previous settings and preferences for the updated apps.
- Remove older versions: Uninstalls the previous versions and saves your hard disk space.
Following are some reasons why you can't enable auto-update for your apps:
- Using macOS 13 Ventura? If you've turned off the Adobe Creative Cloud login item in your macOS System Settings, you can't update your apps automatically. The Creative Cloud desktop app adds login items to support various features, including auto-update. Learn how we use login items.
- Enterprise or teams customer? If you've received your Adobe plan from a school or organization and if you don't see the above Auto-update option, your admin has turned off auto-updates in your school or organization. If you're an admin in a school or organization, learn how to manage auto-updates for your users.
There can be more reasons why auto-update may not be available. Learn more about some common scenarios.
Update your Creative Cloud apps manually
If you don't want to automatically update your apps, you can update them manually with the help of the Creative Cloud desktop app.
Open the Creative Cloud desktop app, Adobe CC 2017 Applications. (Select the icon in the Windows taskbar or the macOS menu bar.)
In the Updates screen, select Update to update the app you want.
Can I schedule an update for later?
You cannot update an app if it's already open. If an app update is available and you're busy using the app, you can update it at a later time. Simply select Update later in the following screen. The Creative Cloud desktop Adobe CC 2017 Applications will attempt to update your app at a later time within 24 hours when the app isn't running. This process continues every 24 hours till the app is found to be closed and can be updated.
Update all your apps at once
If you want to update all your apps at once, select Update all in the upper-right of the Updates screen. Save your work and close all Adobe apps before you begin. If Adobe apps are open, you may receive a warning to close them. For more help, see Close conflicting processes Adobe CC 2017 Applications applications.
Note: We don't recommend using the Update all option if you want to retain the older version of the apps.
Check for the latest updates
Open the Creative Cloud desktop app. (Select the icon in your Windows taskbar or the macOS menu bar.)
From the left sidebar, select Help > Check for Updates.
In the Updates screen, you can see all the apps that need to be updated. Update Adobe CC 2017 Applications apps you want.
Update your Creative Cloud desktop app
When updates are available, the Creative Cloud desktop app gets automatically updated. Alternatively, you can install the latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app manually.

ZombieMariachis | MessagePhotoshop CC 2015 installed just fine with no problems. However pen pressure is intermittent for me. If I lift the pen off my tablet to start a new stroke there is no longer pen pressure or tilt features. But, if I select the brush again from the presets, Adobe CC 2017 Applications, pen pressure and tilt are active again. | bipco | MessageHi Lightroom 5 is basically working for me on Ubuntu 16.04, but can't get it to login to Lightroom Mobile - login dialog freezes after entering id & password. Login of the app to Adobe ID does work. If that was working I'd be able to use it instead of running in VMWare. Certainly runs faster than in the VM. On 4K monitor some lettering gets scrambled in settings dialogs when increasing the Windows dpi to make the menus big enough (but that's a minor detail). Thanks Warren Replies |
